Herengracht
The most famous project of Studio RUIM is the monumental building on the Herengracht in Amsterdam. The art of renovating the canal house is to maintain respect for old elements and to merge this with modern craftsmanship. The interior architects of Studio RUIM know better than anyone how to apply this.
At a first look at the house, the calm appearance is particularly striking. If you look at it longer, the entire symbiosis between old and new can be seen. The classic elements blend seamlessly with the modern design. In the living room, the higher stage creates a livable and homely feeling. The frame on the ceiling is the eye-catcher of the canal house. But the baroque light artwork also attracts a lot of attention. In the modern kitchen, traditional murals cover a huge portion of the walls. Large industrial lamps hang by the dining table that really make a statement.
