Design spa wellness
Location and history
The property is located in a villa neighborhood on a forest edge in the town of Zeist. The house was newly built several years ago. In the basement space, we designed a luxury spa wellness with sauna, pool and walk-in shower.
Design
The design separates the wellness area from the more functional areas such as hall and toilet. We created this separation by applying wooden decking and walls, these are placed in such a way to create a play of lines. The line pattern of the wood material connects the different components in the room.
The wood gives the basement a nautical look. The wood used is Afromosia. Afromosia is very durable wood, does not splinter and is water resistant. The pool contains a countercurrent which makes for great “laps”. In the natural stone wall we placed a hook what the children can use for bodyboarding. The walk-in shower also includes an area with pebbles on the floor that massages the feet while showering.
