Seclusion and structure

The appearance of the home betrays the clients’ fondness for the country style. While the house received a thorough makeover inside and out, Groenregie designed the accompanying garden. Inspired by the lush English style, but with lots of regional greenery. The finest trees were maintained to ensure shade, privacy and a “mature” look. Eyecatchers like the robust pollard willows add character, while the many hedges (including Ilex crenata) and the espaliers with their clean lines provide structure.

Natural beauties

In a country garden, organic forms take center stage. With a multitude of textures, leaf shapes and shades, the planting creates a colorful and cozy atmosphere where the family enjoys outdoor life to the fullest. Flowering plants bring a cheerful note. From purple beauties like lavender to pink cattail, lovely irises and large-flowered panicle hydrangeas. The transition between the front and back yards is “populated” by plants that thrive in shade. Think rhododendron, clouds of Portuguese laurel, autumn anemones and astilbe.

For the paving, the choice fell on natural materials that fit this style wonderfully: natural stone, decking, baked clinkers and semi-paving of gravel stabilization slabs and Japanese split.

Water wealth as neighbor

The trump card of this garden is its location, bordered by pools of gently rippling water. From the boathouse, residents can walk right out onto the lake. Green Direction involved the water in the design. On the large deck it is great to unwind in the handmade lounge set with fire table. In nice weather, you don’t even have to go inside to rinse off after a swim. Just a moment under the outdoor shower, sheltered from view among the ornamental grasses and the old lake pole. In addition to water fun, the family also has great times at the outdoor kitchen.

This garden may already be pleasing to the eye, but it is practical too. There is plenty of space for children to play and romp around. And thanks to the mowing robot, fully automatic garden lighting and garden watering, maximum time is left for relaxing.
