A young family with two children who first lived in Curaçao traded the Caribbean for green Oisterwijk and partnered with Meijs Wonen’s team.

Clear lines
Clear lines and tough natural materials were part of the guiding principles for the construction of a beautiful split-level bungalow; a bungalow with floors on different levels. In Curaçao , the family became fond of the outdoors. Because of the covered patios that run through and the possibility of opening the sliding doors all the way, despite the fresher climate in the Netherlands, this is still possible here. Delicious luxury: from the bathroom you can walk down a flight of stairs into the pool. Inside and outside flow together seamlessly.

No showroom
The residents did not want a showroom but a real home where all areas would be functional and livable. That’s why they enlisted the help of the Meijs team, including Kevin Driessen, even during construction. “Using the 2-D and 3-D designs as a basis, we went to work with an open mind,” Kevin says. ‘It was a challenge to come up with a quiet but unusual interior that would enhance the architecture. The seating area is playfully arranged. We chose the Domino.18 by Montis, a modular sofa whose different elements you can play with. Beautiful and practical, when you form it into a seating island you can look outside as well as at the TV.’

Main role for chandelier
‘Located next to the kitchen, made of dark material, is the dining room. It forms a bold counterpart to the adjacent bright and fresh living space with soft blue accents. The residents like to dine nice and long, so we placed a generous table that matched in color,” Kevin continued. He assigned a starring role to Nemo’s impressive chandelier. ‘So you see: generous, light and nice relaxed living is also absolutely possible here. Bon bini in Oisterwijk!
