The home of Ellen Hoog and Kelvin de Lang is lived in. Light colors, lots of wood and a kitchen that immediately shows a love of cooking characterize their warm home. A home with freedom of movement and where the eye is always caught by different touches. As the steel pivot door connecting the hallway and living room.

A spacious home is what Ellen and Kelvin wanted to create. “With warm light tones and not childproof,” she laughs. “A line on the wall, a hand on the windows … we’ll fix that later. We live in this house, we want to feel uncomplicated comfortable here, and our daughter Bowie is also allowed to play with the pivot door. After all, she loves that one, if only to press her lips against the glass.”

The large kitchen is the meeting place in the house. The tall cabinets and Neolith kitchen countertop betray Ellen’s culinary talents. “We wanted a real live-in kitchen,” she says. “Only the piece between the living area and the room, I wasn’t so happy with that. Something had to be done in that corner, a nice accent was necessary. Especially when the doorway to the hallway was still empty, we noticed how empty that space was. When the pivot door was installed, we immediately noticed the effect on the entire first floor. It has become much more spacious and much more homely. Moreover, it adds a sense of luxury.”

For a moment, Ellen was still tempted to choose a light or bronze-colored TWIN DOOR. “We hesitated, but finally decided on black. You can also see black in other places in our interior. Like in the kitchen and the lamps. Besides, black gives it such a nice calm look.” The question, however, is: will that serene look remain the same with full view of the hall? “For us, an extra motivation to keep the hallway tidy.” And there is much in return. “This is a new construction home, you want to make it your own. Contrasts and accents keep it from being boring and fit our lifestyle.”
